Position Overview

About The Outreach Team

The Outreach Team is a leading national field organization dedicated to partnering with various entities to address significant societal challenges, including the protection of human rights and the combat against climate change. Our effectiveness stems from our commitment to a diverse workforce, investing in our personnel, and fostering a supportive work environment.

We are actively looking for Field Directors to join our vital campaign aimed at ensuring access to reproductive healthcare. This role involves engaging with community members through direct outreach efforts. The mission is to safeguard the rights to abortion, contraceptive services, paid family leave, and comprehensive pregnancy care. Our organization is focused on mobilizing our members to advocate for these essential rights and to dismantle barriers to reproductive freedom.

Field Directors will be responsible for recruiting, training, and overseeing a team of local canvassers tasked with discussing abortion access with community members. This role requires leading by example through active canvassing, while also providing clear communication of both short-term and long-term objectives to the team. Field Directors will supervise canvassers and Team Leads, reporting directly to the Lead Director.

Moreover, the Lead Campaign Director will oversee a team of two Deputy Directors and will play a crucial role in establishing an operational office from the ground up. This position will report to the Project Director.

Immediate Hiring: This role is available for immediate recruitment, with the potential for extension based on campaign needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of 15-20 hourly staff focused on gathering signatures in support of reproductive rights.
  • Establish goals and ensure accountability among team members.
  • Provide training and continuous support to staff to maintain high morale.
  • Identify and cultivate a leadership team within the canvassing staff.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive team culture that promotes respect and equity.
  • Implement quality control measures to uphold the integrity of the campaign efforts.
  • Engage in fieldwork several days a week to collect signatures, train staff, and help achieve office objectives.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all team members.
  • Develop strategic outreach plans to engage registered voters in designated areas.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including data reporting, record keeping, payroll processing, and material distribution.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and manage a large team.
  • Willingness to lead from the front and participate in canvassing activities regularly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the capability to instill this quality in others.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Deep commitment to community organizing and enhancing civic engagement.
  • Demonstrated history of promoting equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing paid canvassing operations or overseeing paid staff.
  • Familiarity with voter outreach tools.
  • Background in working with underserved or marginalized communities.
  • Facilitation skills.
  • Local knowledge and experience.

Compensation: The salary for this position ranges from $1,200 to $1,400 per week, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, health insurance, and practical training opportunities. There may also be prospects for advancement and bonuses at the conclusion of the campaign.

At The Outreach Team, we prioritize equity and inclusion. We are an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from underrepresented groups, to apply.
