Overhead Crane Operator

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Overhead Crane Operator is tasked with managing the reception of incoming materials and consumables, as well as the precise loading of outgoing finished products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role of the Overhead Crane Operator encompasses all operational duties as outlined below. A comprehensive understanding of Forklift and Overhead Crane operations is essential.

All standard operating procedures (SOP) must be adhered to as specified.

1. Guide all transport vehicles to the designated bay or dock for the shipping or receiving of Flat Products (FP), Long Products (LP), and consumables.

1. Examine incoming materials and consumables for any damage or discrepancies. Report any issues to the appropriate supervisor for resolution.

1. Utilize a barcode scanner (BRC) to accurately park materials FP and LP, ensuring consumables are stored in the correct locations according to 6S standards.

1. Maintain precise inventory locations and relocate items using the BRC as necessary.

1. Ensure all shipping and receiving documentation is submitted accurately.

1. Prepare materials for shipment, confirming correct labeling, packaging, and inspecting for any damage. Report any issues to the relevant supervisor.

1. Verify outgoing materials using the BRC scanner, Bill of Lading, and Shipping tags.

1. Carry out all assigned housekeeping and maintenance tasks.

1. Uphold 6S standards consistently.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform other duties as assigned.
2. Engage in relevant continuous improvement initiatives.
3. Assist in packaging materials for shipment.
4. Support the preparation and loading of coils on processing lines.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to move throughout the plant.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk while performing job duties.
• Frequent use of hands for technical tasks.
• Occasional lifting and/or moving of items up to 50 pounds.
• Visual acuity with or without correction.
• Effective communication skills.

HEALTH AND SAFETY:

3. Immediately report any defects in protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager.
4. Utilize required personal protective equipment, including:
