Position Overview

SUMMARY
ElevatEd is seeking a dedicated and imaginative assistant teacher to join our vibrant preschool environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about fostering meaningful learning experiences for toddlers and preschool-aged children. As an assistant teacher, you will collaborate closely with the lead teacher and undertake various responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Designing and executing a weekly lesson plan that aligns with developmentally appropriate practices and the core values of our institution.
  • Encouraging the holistic growth of each child—physically, spiritually, emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
  • Observing and assessing the developmental progress of children, while effectively communicating insights to parents and the Director.
  • Providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for all children.
  • Arranging and maintaining the classroom setup to create an engaging learning space.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
· A Bachelor’s degree or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
· At least one year of experience in a group educational setting for children
· Knowledge of Judaic principles or a willingness to learn
· Certification in Child CPR or a commitment to obtain it
· Ability to fulfill Georgia’s employment requirements for preschool settings
· Familiarity with NAEYC and BFTS standards

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is frequently required to transition between standing, crouching, and sitting on the floor. The employee must possess the ability to use hands and fingers to reach, handle, or manipulate objects, tools, or controls; as well as see, speak, and hear. The employee should be capable of lifting children weighing up to 50 lbs. and must be able to carry children and equipment, spend time on the floor or in child-sized furniture, and maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom and equipment. The assistant teacher will work in a dynamic and occasionally noisy environment, where multiple activities may occur simultaneously, necessitating constant supervision of all children. The assistant teacher may encounter children who are ill or contagious and must take necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff, and themselves.

Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
