Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. As a key member of our coding department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our medical coding practices.

Responsibilities
  • Abstract and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.
  • Review and analyze medical documentation to ensure accurate and comprehensive coding.
  • Identify and report compliance concerns that may impact our organization's billing and reimbursement.
  • Collaborate with coding supervisors to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulatory environments, third-party reimbursement agencies, and coding updates.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in medical coding using CPT and ICD-10-CM or equivalent.
  • Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
