Job Overview:

Data management is crucial for researchers at Harvard University. As a Research Data Management Consultant, you will be responsible for assisting researchers in managing, organizing, and sharing data throughout the research lifecycle. This role serves as a subject matter expert, providing consultation and instructional services to labs on data storage plans and collaborating with other HMS IT groups to establish well-defined data management workflows that support FAIR data principles.

About the Role:

This hybrid position is based in Massachusetts and requires occasional work outside of normal business hours. You will report to the Assistant Director, RDM, and independently lead research data management consultations with HMS researchers, faculty, and stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include data management consultation and support, operational support and process improvement, tool development and maintenance, and leading and organizing RDM trainings.

Responsibilities:

- Meet with faculty, staff, and researchers to better understand, manage, classify, and organize research data throughout the data lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the AD RDM to plan, build, and enhance data lifecycle workflows to support researchers across HMS and the research lifecycle.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on research data management, providing consultation and instructional services to labs on data storage plans and collaborating with other HMS IT groups to establish well-defined data management workflows that support FAIR data principles.

Requirements:

- Minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience
- Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred
