Materials Scientist

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking a skilled professional to support North and South American production by collaborating with Engineering Design, Manufacturing, and Plant Purchasing divisions. This role is located in our Materials Development Department at our Superior Township, MI location.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and validate metal materials for newly launching and current production vehicles, including R&D projects and patent submissions.
• Audit quality of current production metals and participate in vehicle quality teardowns.
• Conduct laboratory analysis of metals to evaluate material and component performance, making recommendations for improvement.
• Support Hyundai Motor Group and North/South American manufacturing locations with resolution of quality issues relating to metals.
• Benchmark industry activities and report results to appropriate departments.
• Improve the quality of current Hyundai and Kia metal production parts.
• Assist in planning and monitoring of department budgets.
• Create and present technical reports as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, Material Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least one year of experience in metals analysis, processing, or materials.
• Proficient skills in time management and organization, MS Office software, and oral and written communication.
• Valid Driver's License and Satisfactory Driving Record.
