Job Summary:

The Surgical Tech Student Intern will assist in the preparation and maintenance of a sterile field for patients undergoing surgery. This role requires a student in the last year of a Surgical Technology Program to gather supplies and instrumentation needed for operative procedures, ensuring all equipment is functioning before use.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of a sterile field for patients undergoing surgery.
  • Gather all supplies and instrumentation needed for operative procedures according to physician's preference card.
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning before use.
  • Instigate safety measures in areas of surgical counts, positioning, electrocautery, and medication administration.
  • Work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status.

Qualifications:

  • Student in the last year of a Surgical Technology Program.
  • Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

Education / Licensure:

  • High School diploma, GED or Higher Education required.
  • Must be a student currently enrolled in a program for Operating Room Technicians.
  • Student in good academic standing that is enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Eligible for certification as an Operating Room Technician within six months of employment.
  • Must have and maintain current BLS certification.
