Role Summary
The Financial Empowerment Coach will play a crucial role in delivering programs aimed at guiding individuals and families towards financial independence and achieving their financial aspirations. Responsibilities may encompass the following components: client outreach, personalized financial coaching, housing assistance, and financial literacy workshops. This is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, funded through renewable grants.
- Build trusting relationships with clients to facilitate their financial journeys.
- Provide individualized coaching and case management to assist clients in identifying resources, developing budgets, managing debt, and setting financial objectives.
- Educate clients on housing options and provide assistance in their housing search.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure a holistic approach to client support.
- Guide clients in improving their credit scores through education and counseling.
- Support client participation in Matched Savings Accounts.
- Utilize Motivational Interviewing and effective coaching techniques to engage clients.
- Conduct outreach initiatives to attract and retain clients as necessary.
- Collect and manage data as required by funding sources and partners, using appropriate software systems.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to implement program components.
- Assist in preparing funding applications and renewals as needed.
- In collaboration with the supervisor and Financial Center team, design and lead group activities or workshops tailored to the target audience.
Education
A minimum of two years of experience in case management, individual counseling, or group facilitation, ideally within financial education or counseling, working with diverse populations is essential.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred; relevant professional and personal experiences may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proficiency in applying financial counseling and coaching principles.
- Experience in financial education or coaching is preferred.
- Familiarity with housing assistance programs.
- Demonstrated cultural competence.
- Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to cultivate positive relationships with diverse groups, including clients and colleagues.
- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications, with solid general computer skills.
- Physical capability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Availability for a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Reliable transportation is required.
