Substance Use Counselor

At CoreCivic, we offer a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of offenders. As a Correctional Substance Use Counselor, you will be responsible for assessing prospective program participants, developing individualized treatment plans, and facilitating group therapy sessions.

About the Role
  • Interviews and assesses prospective program participants, gathers data using screening and assessment instruments, and determines individual and group needs.
  • Facilitates individual and group treatment interventions, in accordance with partner agencies, state regulations, and company protocols.
  • Maintains confidentiality of clinical files, including intake documents, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Diligently tracks treatment plans, monitors inmate progress, and reviews status to ensure completion of treatment programs.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field is required.
  • One year of experience in mental health or substance use counseling is preferred.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • LCDC Intern license is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
