Job Title: Anesthesia Technician

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team in Belmont, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The Anesthesia Technician will provide critical support to anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists in all clinical roles, including the set-up, care, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists with clinical activities, excluding direct patient care and medication handling.
  • Clean, care for, and maintain all anesthesia equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Inventory and order supplies from purchasing, storeroom, and pharmacy as needed.
  • Collaborate with hospital departments to arrange for preventive maintenance, service contract QC inspections/repairs, and emergency repairs.
  • Perform light maintenance and calibrations of equipment as specified by manufacturer and approved by the Biomedical Engineering Department.
  • Ensure compliance with JCAHO Standards and check/replace gas tanks as needed.
  • Clean and care for reusable and/or contaminated equipment according to established standards/policies and procedures.
  • Organize and maintain records pertinent to stock data for verification and justification of budget.
  • Assist in the provision of basic nursing care to assigned patients.

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as an Anesthesia Technician preferred.
  • Self-directed and able to work effectively independently.
  • Adheres to hospital policies/procedures relative to vendors, equipment evaluation, and supplies.
