Position Overview

Evolver Federal is seeking a Lead Cybersecurity Analyst to enhance our team in support of our federal clientele. This role necessitates in-person collaboration one day per week.


The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of the Risk Management and Continuous Monitoring Program. They will provide recommendations for process enhancements to improve organizational efficiency. The individual will serve as a key intermediary among various stakeholders within the client organization, including Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), Security Control Assessment Teams (SCA), and System Development and Maintenance Teams, as well as other federal and contractor groups within the Information Security Division.


Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize automated tools to assist the federal client in managing the Risk Management and Continuous Monitoring Program, which includes ISSO outreach regarding compliance, tracking task completion, and compiling necessary data for internal and external inquiries.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Playbooks that outline processes, procedures, and references to security policies, ensuring the maturity of the Continuous Monitoring and Risk Management Programs.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, develop and present actionable recommendations, and implement relevant solutions.
  • Collaborate with the client's Audit Team to incorporate lessons learned from internal and external audits across the enterprise's IT systems.
  • Design both informal and formal training materials for the ISSO community, including microlearning video scripts and storyboards.
  • Review documentation for compliance waivers against specified security requirements and provide informed recommendations for risk acceptance.
  • Coordinate with the SCA team on testing common controls and the client's RMIC Group for assessments.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of security documentation to ensure compliance with requirements and assess the security posture of IT systems.
  • Engage in initiatives aimed at improving internal business processes related to vulnerability remediation, patch management, STIG compliance, and standard operating system images.
  • Develop and sustain documentation pertaining to internal security processes and training materials.
  • Create presentations and briefings for Government Project Managers and Executive Management.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Government.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate information and instructions clearly and logically to enhance reader comprehension, while writing and editing technical content as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure that specialized topics are adequately addressed in all assigned work products.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience evaluating IT systems using NIST SP within the federal sector.
  • 5 years of experience with tools such as Nexus IQ Server, Splunk Enterprise, DoJ CSAM, JIRA/Confluence, CloudCheckr, and PrismaCloud.
  • 5 years of familiarity with the NIST SP Risk Management Framework.
  • 5 years of experience applying NIST SP to document and assess IT system compliance with specified control requirements.
  • 5 years of experience communicating complex technical concepts to a diverse audience, including ISSOs, IT Project Managers, Database Administrators, Application Developers, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • 5 years of experience in an Analyst role requiring adaptability to changing priorities and effective communication of project status.
  • 5 years of experience in an Agile environment, delivering quality outputs with minimal guidance.
  • 5 years of client engagement experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen with eligibility for a Public Trust position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience evaluating IT systems using NIST SP in the federal government.
  • 10 years of experience with relevant tools and technologies.
  • 10 years of knowledge of the NIST SP Risk Management Framework.
  • 10 years of experience in communicating complex technical concepts effectively.
  • 10 years of experience in an Analyst role requiring adaptability and effective communication.
  • Previous experience supporting Department of Homeland Security clients is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DHS processes related to Cyber Hygiene scanning and remediation.
  • Ability to work independently with a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
