Job Summary

The Retention and Academic Support Systems Specialist reports to the Director of Student Success Initiatives, Retention, and Persistence, and is responsible for overseeing the assignment and resolution of alert flags raised within TU's Starfish platform, maintaining TU's Retention Chatbot, assisting with all Student Success Summer Bridge programs, and proactively engaging with students identified by campus stakeholders. Specifically, the Retention and Academic Support Specialist analyzes undergraduate student data from Starfish and Chatbot to create meaningful interventions based on best and high-impact practices. This individual should be a high-energy, detail-oriented, positive role model who is committed to supporting a diverse array of programs, activities, and initiatives to promote student learning, a sense of belonging, and retention in a student-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the assignment and resolution of alert flags raised within TU's Starfish platform.
  • Maintain TU's Retention Chatbot.
  • Assist with all Student Success Summer Bridge programs.
  • Proactively engage with students identified by campus stakeholders.
  • Analyze undergraduate student data from Starfish and Chatbot to create meaningful interventions.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or previous work experience in a related field, especially in academic support.
  • Masters preferred.
  • Experience with TU technology systems desirable.
  • Experience with the Starfish early alert system.
  • Demonstrated case management, advising, and/or counseling, and creative problem-solving skills are desirable.
  • Works with highly sensitive or confidential information and must be able to work occasional evenings or weekends.
