Denny's Host/Hostess Position Overview

A Denny's Host/Hostess plays a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our guests. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring a positive dining experience for every guest, every time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greeting Guests: Welcome guests in a warm and friendly manner, setting the tone for a positive experience.
  • Engaging with Guests: Engage in friendly conversation, suggesting new menu items, processing payments, and assisting with beverage orders.
  • Supporting the Team: Complete side work, cleaning, and assist other team members as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to raise a tray weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, wipe, lift, and grasp.
  • Sufficient mobility to move and operate in the work area.
  • Ability to stand and walk during the entire shift.
  • Ability to hear well in a loud environment to respond to employee and guest needs.
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
  • Meet any state, county, or municipal regulation pertaining to health risk concerns about food handling.
  • Ability to observe and differentiate between monetary denominations.
  • Ability to operate point of sale system.
  • Ability to work around potentially hazardous chemicals.

Position Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to pass all required tests and training requirements for the position.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Meets Denny's uniform and grooming standards and maintains them throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Excellent guest service skills.
  • Dependable and able to learn basic tasks and follow instructions.
