Key Responsibilities

As a Healthcare Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in patient care by:

  • Taking basic vital signs and conducting preliminary assessments.
  • Providing clear explanations of medical information to patients under the guidance of healthcare providers.
  • Assisting with medical procedures as directed by providers and demonstrating initiative.
  • Performing blood draws; IV experience is preferred but not mandatory.

In your capacity as a registration coordinator, you will ensure a smooth and accurate check-in and check-out process, which includes:

  • Confirming patient registration and demographic information.
  • Verifying insurance details and processing payments.
  • Handling phone inquiries and assisting patients with scheduling and other non-clinical needs.
Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a physician office or clinic setting, with a preference for Internal Medicine or Primary Care.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, documentation skills, and strong communication abilities.
  • Capacity to manage high call volumes and multitask effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of various insurance types, pre-authorizations, and pre-certifications.
  • Ability to gather patient history and perform effective telephone triage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, assisting with inventory as needed.
  • Greet patients warmly and assist with their check-in and check-out processes.
  • Schedule appointments and manage documentation efficiently.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is mandatory.

Experience Requirements:

  • Preferred one year of experience in a medical office setting.
  • Strong proficiency in computer and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of health insurance processes is advantageous.
  • Prior customer service experience is preferred.

Key Competencies:

  • Adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented, particularly regarding patient information.
  • Ability to remain calm and de-escalate situations with upset patients.
