SUMMARY:
The Production Associate plays a crucial role in assisting donors and customers with respect and professionalism. This position involves helping donors unload their contributions and bringing them into the store, organizing clothing, sorting and categorizing apparel into sellable and non-sellable items, tagging prices, and aiding in the loading and unloading of trucks and trailers. The Production Associate is also responsible for providing support services while collaborating with individuals facing disabilities or disadvantages.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess donated items for quality and allocate them to suitable areas for pricing and distribution.
- Prepare clothing racks, bins, and other display items for the retail environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Welcome donors promptly and courteously; assist in unloading donations from vehicles, offer tax receipts, and maintain accurate daily donor counts. Greet each donor with a friendly acknowledgment and express gratitude for their contributions.
- Ensure a tidy and organized appearance in the store and processing area, including returning merchandise to designated locations, rearranging items moved by customers, dusting, sweeping, and performing other housekeeping tasks. Clean display areas and merchandise according to established guidelines.
- Properly hang textiles, attach price tags, transport merchandise on the sales floor, and display items in designated locations while meeting productivity standards.
- Contribute to achieving production and sales targets for the store.
- Meet sorting and pricing production standards in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Propose enhancements in material flow and job processes to the supervisor.
- Assist in safeguarding store inventory and monitor customer activity to minimize theft.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
- Comply with all policies and procedures of Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc.
- Maintain acceptable attendance, personal hygiene, and dress code standards, including wearing company-issued identification.
- Collaborate closely with store management and fellow associates to ensure timely processing of donations for the sales floor.
- Exhibit exemplary work habits for colleagues and program participants, maintaining a respectful demeanor towards the entire facility's operations, team members, and serving as a positive role model for individuals receiving rehabilitative services.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and maintain the cleanliness of your work area according to Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. standards. Report any accidents or injuries immediately.
- Uphold a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill Industries of El Paso, Inc. and individuals receiving services.
- Assist in additional areas as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in retail or second-hand goods is advantageous.
- Familiarity with a diverse range of products to ensure completeness and quality.
- Ability to make prompt decisions regarding merchandise quality.
- Must possess a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English (preferred) along with basic math skills.
- Capability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to transfer to different locations as needed.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Capacity to build and maintain effective professional relationships with supervisors, co-workers, customers, donors, and individuals receiving services.
- Maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to provide support services while working with individuals with disabilities or disadvantages, contributing to their rehabilitation process.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and stand for extended periods; bend, reach, and stretch repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Ability to navigate throughout the store, production area, and donation center.
- Ability to meet daily production goals by processing 700 pieces of textiles or as required by production standards.
- Ability to meet daily production goals generating $1,500 in hard goods as required by production standards.
