We are seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing echocardiography procedures with a high level of technical expertise and patient care.
Responsibilities- Operate ultrasound equipment with a deep understanding of the technology and ability to select the appropriate transducer frequency for each examination.
- Understand and apply anatomy and physiology knowledge to recognize significant structures and differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures.
- Provide exceptional patient care, including explaining test procedures, monitoring patient condition during exams, and reporting unusual occurrences to supervisors or ordering physicians.
- Perform a variety of related clerical tasks, including answering phones, checking requisitions, and maintaining accurate records.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in diagnostic echocardiography through ongoing education and professional development.
- Completion of an ARDMS-accredited program in Cardiovascular Ultrasound.
- Experience in adult and pediatric echocardiography, adult stress echos, and TEEs.
- ARDMS (RDCS) registration or eligibility and/or an appropriate credential in echocardiography.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.
- Ability to use proper body mechanics and exercise independent judgment in emergency situations.
- 1 year of experience in a hospital setting.
