Position Title: Structural Truss Engineer

OBJECTIVE:

To deliver precise estimates, innovative designs, and comprehensive layouts for our external sales representatives and clientele utilizing advanced software such as Alpine, Mitek, Javelin, and Forte.

This role involves generating production drawings and files tailored for our manufacturing operations.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

This position requires a solid foundation in residential construction, particularly with a focus on architectural plans and proficiency in AutoCAD.

Ideal candidates will possess experience in crafting truss designs based on client specifications and plans, alongside the capability to uphold engineering timelines to facilitate production.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the construction sector
  • Expertise in floor and roof truss design and configuration
  • Proficiency in Alpine, Mitek, Javelin, and/or Forte software is essential
  • Ability to interpret architectural and structural blueprints accurately
  • Competence in calculating tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load distribution throughout a structure
  • Skilled in operating a computer and utilizing current software applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written directives
  • Professional interaction with clients, colleagues, sales personnel, and construction teams
  • Solid mathematical skills, including architectural units, fractions, geometry, and basic trigonometry
  • Familiarity with EWP software is advantageous, particularly Javelin and/or Forte

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Execute design tasks as assigned by the Design Manager.
  • Conduct truss designs, layouts, placement plans, and beam sizing using designated software.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, architectural, and structural drawings
  • Ensure designs are precise, optimized, and compliant with building regulations
  • Create Floor and Roof truss placement layouts for production and final construction
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for budgeting purposes
  • Offer job-site assistance, in collaboration with the sales team, as needed
  • Request sealed engineering drawings and/or repair specifications and follow up for completion
  • Propose alternatives and solutions as challenges arise in the field or as plans evolve
