Job Summary:

As a Welding Engineer at BWX Technologies, Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our welding and brazing operations. This position requires a strong understanding of welding processes, materials, and techniques, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to production teams to ensure compliance with established welding procedures and standards.
  • Develop and maintain welding procedures, including qualification and testing of new techniques and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Process Engineering, and other departments to resolve hardware joining problems and improve overall quality.
  • Interface with the Materials Laboratory to support testing and qualification of welding materials.
  • Investigate and recommend new welding and brazing techniques, equipment, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Provide training and guidance to hourly weld personnel on welding functions and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on welding operations to ensure compliance with established schedules and quality requirements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Welding Engineering or Weld Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, materials, and techniques, including manual and automated GTA welding.
  • Experience with military welding standards, such as NAVSEA and/or MIL-STD-278, is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Leadership ability and skills, with the ability to motivate and guide hourly weld personnel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
