JOB SUMMARY
The Dentist is responsible for delivering comprehensive dental care, including diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, operative dentistry, oral surgery, and endodontics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conducts thorough oral assessments utilizing radiographs, periodontal charting, and impressions.
- Records and documents findings related to both extraoral and intraoral hard and soft tissues.
- Provides extensive care for patients across all age groups, including those with complex medical histories and pregnant individuals.
- Develops, discusses, and finalizes treatment plans in collaboration with patients.
- Performs tooth extractions, root canal treatments, caries removal, and prepares teeth for fillings, utilizing materials such as amalgam and composite.
- Restores teeth impacted by caries through various restoration methods, crowns, and fixed partial dentures, adhering to agreed treatment plans.
- Diagnoses and manages pathological conditions, prescribes medications for dental diseases, administers local anesthesia, and takes dental radiographs.
- Creates dental appliances including dentures, partials, minor orthodontic devices, crowns, and inlays.
- Offers patient education and guidance on oral health practices.
- Ensures timely documentation to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Trains dental staff on relevant applications to foster a knowledgeable team.
- Addresses emergency cases and performs necessary procedures to alleviate immediate discomfort.
- Operates in compliance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Acts as a clinical leader and resource, fostering a positive workplace culture and supporting departmental and organizational changes.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Supervises dental student externs in delivering comprehensive dental services.
- Maintains regular attendance to fulfill the essential functions of the role.
- Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements to uphold the skills and knowledge necessary for the role.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For roles requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, qualifications must be from an accredited institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required:
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required:
Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice in the State of Wisconsin.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association within three months of hire.Preferred/Optional:

PATIENT POPULATIONS SERVED
Individuals hired are expected to serve patients of various ages and backgrounds.
When performing the essential functions of the role, the individual must identify the patient age group to be served and apply the appropriate care based on the patient's age and background.
The hiring manager is responsible for communicating the patient population generally encountered in the role and ensuring the appropriate cultural, age, and related training needed to serve the patient populations.
