Pro Tect Associates Inc is looking for motivated individuals eager to embark on a career in the Oil and Gas sector as an Environmental Emissions Control (EEC) Apprentice.
The EEC Apprentices will receive hands-on training in Whiting, IN, focusing on reducing fugitive volatile organic compound (VOC) and hazardous air pollutant (HAP) emissions, adhering to the standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
As an Apprentice, you will collaborate with a Level II Technician to implement Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) methodologies as outlined in Method 21, utilizing portable monitoring instruments.
This apprenticeship offers a unique chance for practical experience, with opportunities for salary increases based on certifications achieved within the first year of employment.
Through Pro Tect's structured career pathways, apprentices can advance to Level II, Senior, and Lead Technician positions, and explore various roles within the organization, including Non-Destructive Testing and Environmental Health Services.
Position Overview
The EEC Apprentice will report to a Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Manager and will work closely with management to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with company objectives.
- Monitor components along a designated route within an industrial facility.
- Calibrate equipment to guarantee optimal analyzer performance and identify leaks.
- Utilize effective communication skills to foster partnerships that achieve shared goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Report all incidents, including injuries and unsafe conditions, to the supervisor and Safety Department.
- Conduct emissions monitoring using a portable analyzer and electronic data collector.
- Complete daily uploads of monitoring activities to the customer database and prepare emissions reports.
- Communicate potential issues with site personnel and coordinate with plant staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED.
Required Skills and Experience
- 1-3 months of relevant experience or training; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- Basic computer skills, particularly in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel); experience with PDA devices is preferred.
- Prior experience in chemical plants or refineries is advantageous but not mandatory.

Working Conditions
Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme weather conditions. The role may require lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing heights of up to 300 feet.
