BOP Technician Job Description

The BOP Technician is a critical role at Deep Well Services, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of blowout preventers (BOPs) and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance, service, repair, and pressure testing of BOPs and components.
  • Service and maintain all BOPs, including Ram and spherical types, and associated valves.
  • Conduct and document pressure tests for these components after service.
  • Manage inventory of consumable materials and parts for BOPs.
  • Organize and maintain the facility, including the testing station and BOP store room.
  • Aid management in developing a preventative maintenance system for BOPs.
  • Aid management in training additional BOP Technicians.
  • Assist field personnel with job-related problems associated with BOPs.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Manager to ensure all API and company requirements are met.
  • Perform field service as required, including troubleshooting, repairs, and nipple up and servicing.
  • Maintain and operate hydraulic torque wrenches.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of less than or equal to one year to a maximum of 5+ years working with servicing BOPS or related job experience; previous BOP experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and self-motivation.
  • Prior order desk and consumable materials management experience ideal.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet minimum driving requirements for company insurance purposes.
  • Pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
Work Environment:

Typically, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. However, due to the nature of the business, hours may be long and irregular. Weekend and evening hours may be necessary on occasion.
