Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist PRN will play a vital role in our team, providing high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department. This position requires a strong foundation in respiratory therapy, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and delivers respiratory care services to patients, including diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures.
  • Monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, ensuring safe and effective treatment.
  • Administers floor and critical care therapy modalities, including oxygen therapy and non-invasive SpO2 monitoring.
  • Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, as well as instrument quality control.
  • Responds to cardiopulmonary arrests, rapid responses, trauma activations, and labor and delivery calls, providing critical care services as needed.
  • Maintains and processes equipment, ensuring proper function and safety.
  • Provides specialized respiratory care services to the department, including patient education and family support.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) approved Registered Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Current Virginia Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
  • Maintain NBRC credentials for Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Current NRP, PALS Certification.
  • STABLE certification (within first year).
  • Preferred: NBRC subspecialty credential Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty Exam.
  • Preferred: PFT or RPFT (PFT lab only).
  • Active member of the American Association for Respiratory Care.
