Ultrasound Tech Job Description

Max Populi is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Tech to join our team in Radiology Breast Imaging. As an Ultrasound Tech, you will be responsible for performing routine and special procedure imaging, diagnostic and medical sonograms. You will prepare patients for procedures, assist radiologists when needed, and prepare, operate and care for the equipment being used.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and special procedure imaging, diagnostic and medical sonograms.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and assist radiologists when needed.
  • Prepare, operate and care for the equipment being used.
  • Develop and process films when needed.
  • Adhere to established radiology standards of care.
  • Obtain appropriate continuing education.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned area and duties.
  • Adhere to outpatient facility-wide customer service programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance.
  • Exercise professional judgment in performance of procedures.
  • Provide patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Understand and adhere to the Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
  • Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol.
  • Assume responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produce good technical images.
  • Assist physicians during practice-based procedures as necessary.
  • Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, order supplies.
  • Work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories.
  • Report all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med and/or supervisor.
  • Process CD's, or print pictures if needed.
  • Perform routine office tasks, such as answering phones, checking-in patients, obtaining previous reports/films, or other related duties as needed.
  • Show radiologist all images and call reports to the attending physician and document communication if necessary.
  • May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor.
  • Treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the WPH's behavioral standards.
  • Introduce him/her and educate the patient and/or family members regarding the examination that is ordered.
  • Be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Completion of a certified ultrasound program or Limited Permit/certificate.
  • ARDMS is required for ACR accreditation compliance after January 1, 2019 or ARRT (s) or RT (VS) experience preferred.
  • Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification.
  • BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 days of hire.
