Overview
The Residential Instructor is a vital member of our team at Alternative Services-Connecticut Inc, responsible for providing daily care and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role requires a unique blend of compassion, patience, and strong communication skills.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Residential Instructor to join our team. As a Residential Instructor, you will be responsible for creating a safe, healthy, and enjoyable environment for our consumers. Your duties will include monitoring consumer behavior, implementing behavior support plans, and documenting all activities and incidents.
Daily Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Providing direct care and supervision to consumers during each shift
Implementing and adhering to behavior support plans and documentation requirements
Maintaining a clean and safe living environment, including sanitation and safety inspections
Assisting with medication administration and monitoring
Organizing and supervising community activities and outings
Providing counseling and reinforcement to assigned consumers
Documenting all activities, incidents, and consumer progress
Participating in staff meetings and training sessions
Qualifications
To be successful as a Residential Instructor, you will need:
A minimum of two years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnoses
A valid driver's license and ability to obtain agency insurance
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene as needed
CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS State Medication Administration certifications
Schedule
This position works varied shifts, including weekends and evenings, with occasional overnights required. A typical shift may include Friday (3 pm - 12 am), Saturday (10 am - 8 pm), Sunday (9 am - 4 pm), Monday (12:30 pm - 7 pm), Tuesday (12:30 pm - 7 pm), Wednesday (off), and Thursday (off).
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of $$44,995 per year, based on a 40-hour workweek. In addition to your annual salary, you can expect to earn overtime pay for any hours worked beyond your scheduled shift.
