Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the Dean of Academic Affairs, Nursing and The Connie Allen Kendrick Endowed Chair in Teaching and Workforce Development for Nursing. This is a key leadership position that oversees all aspects of the academic unit of Nursing programs, including Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, Nursing Bridge, Nurse Aide, Allied Health Professions Degree, and Healthcare Assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and organize the unit's work to meet the technical college's objectives.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of all full- and part-time faculty and staff within the nursing units.
  • Review and approve all requests for supplies and materials.
  • Prepare the instructional program specifications and budget.
  • Represent the department at various internal and external meetings.
  • Develop and implement an educational plan for all campus locations to ensure adequate staff, space, and materials.
  • Address and resolve complaints and needs of students, faculty, staff, and outside customers.
  • Serve as a liaison to departments of the technical college.
  • Attend campus program advisory meetings.
  • Provide leadership for committees, special projects, and initiatives as assigned.
  • Develop and/or assist with the development of policies and procedures and recommend changes to meet the goals and requirements of the College.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of services provided and adjust as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Report directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Nursing from a nationally or regionally accredited institution college or university.
  • Hold appropriate, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • At least three to five years' experience working in an academic unit in higher education within the past seven years.
  • Experience in a supervisory role in education and industry.

  • Knowledge of the mission of post-secondary vocational/technical education.
  • Familiarity with program assessment and strategic planning strategies.
  • Understanding of budget development and management principles.
  • Knowledge of state and local academic program curricula and academic course standards.
  • Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Salary and Benefits
