Role Summary
The Inpatient Pharmacist is responsible for managing medication therapies for hospitalized patients, ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals. This role involves overseeing the preparation and dispensing of medications, as well as providing critical drug information to healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and process medication orders for both parenteral and enteral therapies.
- Monitor patient medication regimens and collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize drug therapy outcomes.
- Supervise pharmacy support staff and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.
- In the absence of the pharmacy manager, assume managerial responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Essential Education and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy and current licensure as a registered pharmacist in Louisiana.
- Experience with pharmacy information systems is mandatory.
- Active pharmacy practice license in the state of Louisiana.
- Demonstrated ability to perform as an inpatient staff pharmacist.
Desirable Education and Experience
- Experience in a health system setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with Meditech systems is advantageous.
- Experience in monitoring billing accuracy and compliance is a plus.
- Background in developing and maintaining medication pump libraries is preferred.
