Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Healthcare Coordinator to join our team in the Medical Stepdown Unit. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of safe and quality patient care on the unit. Your responsibilities will include supervising staff, overseeing patient care activities, providing direct patient care, and performing administrative and quality management tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a variety of patient care activities, including staff allocation, scheduling, patient assignments, rounds, investigation/resolution of patient care issues, and coordination of admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Provide direct patient care consistent with the charge nurse/clinical registered nurse job description accountabilities, maintaining all clinical competencies outlined.
  • Perform a variety of patient experience activities to ensure that patient experience expectations are met or exceeded, including role modeling, staff mentoring/coaching, patient rounds, service recovery, and problem resolution.
  • Assist with continuing staff development, including clinical problem solving and decision making skills, collaborating with clinical nurse educators to support new staff orientation and training, and maintaining records/documentation pertaining to staff competencies, certification and/or licensure.
  • Perform a variety of administrative and quality management activities to ensure that quality expectations and regulatory requirements are met, including ensuring unit compliance with departmental, Prisma Health, safety, regulatory, environmental, and infection control standards, maintaining records/documentation pertaining to regulatory/environmental standards, quality audits or other unit-related record-keeping requirements, and assisting Nurse Manager in preparation of Joint Commission visits, etc.
  • In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, perform a variety of human resources activities, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, coaching, counseling, staff rounding, and performance management of unit staff, and may assist with Payroll processing.
  • Assist the Nurse Manager in maintaining unit budget by appropriate allocation and utilization of unit resources, sharing accountability with Nurse Manager for unit/department/organizational goal achievement.
  • Assist in planning, directing, and evaluating various short-term and long-term projects for the unit, developing, submitting, implementing, and evaluating performance objectives for self and unit, working with health care team members on activities designed to improve patient care outcomes, and participating in Nursing and/or hospital committees and work groups as needed.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

This role has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members, including final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility, and disciplinary authority. As a member of management staff at Prisma Health Company or affiliate, this role will have direct reports.

Requirements

We require a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, 2 years of RN experience in an appropriate area of nursing, and Current R.N. Licensure as recognized by South Carolina (Lawson Code NLRN). In lieu of the BSN requirement, a nursing diploma or an Associate's Degree in Nursing may be considered if the applicant signs a Memorandum of Understanding agreeing to enroll in an accredited BSN or MSN program within one year and obtain a BSN or MSN degree within four years. Previous management or supervisory experience and certified in nursing specialty are preferred.
