Key Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for coordinating nursing care, which includes direct patient care, education for patients and families, and managing transitions of care.
The RN plays a vital role in supporting professional nursing practices across various settings and throughout the continuum of care to fulfill the needs of patients and their families.
Within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, the RN is accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all aspects of nursing care for assigned patients.
Professional Standards
The ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice serve as the foundation for RN practice. The RN provides leadership through roles such as preceptor, informal leadership, and quality improvement initiatives. Patient care is delegated based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, resource availability, and fiscal responsibility. The RN must possess excellent communication skills, be adept in mentoring and teaching, and may engage in committees or projects.
This position is eligible for TN sponsorship, which will require state licensure and completion of the Visa Screen or equivalent certification.
Qualifications
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a start date of April 1, 2020, or later must provide documented evidence of completing a baccalaureate degree in nursing within five years from their start date.

Preferred qualifications include one year of RN experience in a relevant care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic.
Licensure and Certification
Current RN license as per state regulations.
Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS competency from recognized programs such as the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Positions not located on campus may not require current BLS competency as determined by the work area.
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training may be required based on the work area.Compensation and Benefits
