SUMMARY

The Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and conducting routine maintenance on both fuel-powered and electric forklifts, along with various customer equipment tailored to client specifications at their locations.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

This technician will execute repairs on forklifts and diverse types of industrial machinery directly at customer sites. Collaborating with on-site management, the technician will prioritize repair tasks. Effective communication with customer representatives and their teams is essential to address their forklift and material handling requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnose and carry out both basic and advanced repairs on forklifts.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections to determine necessary repairs, documenting all findings for each work order.
  • Advise customers regarding required repairs or additional maintenance services.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols while operating power tools, lifts, and hoists.
  • Interpret service manuals and schematics, utilizing electrical diagnostic tools effectively.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements to provide informed recommendations to clients.
  • Exhibit self-motivation and organizational skills to manage billable hours and ongoing tasks efficiently.
  • Ensure all paperwork and documentation are accurate, clear, and well-organized.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Maintain a clean and legible record of all service activities.
  • Possess a strong driving record.
  • Oversee the upkeep and safe operation of the service vehicle, managing inventory and ordering parts as necessary.
  • Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally more).
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.
  • Participate in training sessions and online courses as needed.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2-3 years of relevant experience in the field.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

High School Diploma or GED is required.

A valid, unrestricted driver's license is mandatory.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess the physical endurance to perform tasks involving full body motion, including climbing, reaching, pushing, and lifting. Work environments may include maintenance areas with potential exposure to mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, or solvents, necessitating knowledge of safety procedures. Job sites may vary, including manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and outdoor environments.
