Job Title: Front-End Web Developer

The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost at the University of Virginia seeks a skilled Front-End Web Developer to join the Executive Vice President and Provost's Web Team. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish innovative and high-quality website development and deployment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all websites meet the requirements, policies, and standards of the University, specifically UVA brand guidelines and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA level).
  • Create functional, visually appealing, and interactive website designs.
  • Assist with the development and deployment of new or redesigned websites.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies, software development methodologies, and industry trends.
  • Provide training to stakeholders to ensure they understand the importance of web usability and accessibility.
  • Utilize reporting applications to maintain and improve site quality metrics.
  • Support the web team with other web-related initiatives and projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field with at least three years of experience developing front-end websites.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Experience working with HTML5, CSS3, and popular content management systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of image authoring tools, for cropping, resizing, or performing small adjustments to images. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA requirements and a demonstrated understanding of accessibility and usability for people with disabilities.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
