We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Student Outreach Assistant to join our team at the KidSpirit Program in the Division of Extension and Engagement at Oregon State University. As a Student Outreach Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing a quality and safe environment for all campers, parents, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Lead specialized activities that promote nutrition and cooking, and coach skill development in food preparation and cooking.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans, provide feedback, maintain a safe learning environment, and assist other instructors and camp counselors.
- Attend orientations, meetings, and in-service trainings, and shop for groceries.
- Cook from your own kitchen, being viewed by families and children, and have the ability to have/ acquire or assistance in order to have technological capabilities to be cooking in a virtual live program.
- Complete and submit appropriate documents as needed, and maintain equipment and supplies inventory.
- Administer first aid and activate emergency action steps if medical attention is required.
- A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
- Leadership experience, including training cooking staff safety and instructing protocol, maintaining cooking staff and activity schedule, delegating and managing cooking projects, and revising Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
This is a student employment opportunity, and the selected candidate will be expected to work a maximum of 20 hours per week, dependent on credits enrolled. The position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position, and the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard et seq.
