Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Special Education Assistant II at Windsor Unified School District. This role will provide support to students with moderate to severe behavioral, physical, and/or medical needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Work with students in small groups or one-on-one to reinforce basic skills and supplement classroom work
  • Assist with classroom management and share observations with teachers
  • Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and training sessions
  • Assist with daily operations, such as roll call, lunch count, and out-of-classroom errands
  • Monitor individual student progress and discuss problems and improvements with teachers
  • Maintain confidential records and files
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians
  • Assist with feeding, toileting, dressing, and independent skill development for students
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and participate in student-related meetings
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience working in an educational setting
  • At least one year of training and/or experience working with special needs students
  • Red Cross recognized first aid certificate or successful completion of a first aid course within three months of employment
  • CPR certification
Desirable Qualifications
  • Training and/or experience working with special needs students
  • LVN, EMT, CNA, or Behavior certification
Physical Demands

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift in excess of 50 pounds.
