Position: Scaffold Builder
The Scaffold Builder position offers a chance to engage in the construction, assembly, maintenance, and disassembly of tubular scaffolding and other temporary structures. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the type of scaffold required for specific tasks.
- Conduct thorough inspections of job sites and all scaffold materials for defects and safety risks.
- Communicate safety concerns effectively and take proactive measures to mitigate hazards before scaffold construction begins.
- Transport tubular scaffolding and related materials, erecting them according to specified dimensions.
- Lift scaffolding materials to construct temporary structures.
- Ensure proper securing and leveling of scaffold sections.
- Stabilize scaffolding by securing it to permanent structures.
- Comply with all OSHA regulations, site-specific guidelines, and Austin Industrial protocols for scaffold erection and navigation.
- Perform final inspections of completed scaffolding.
- Dismantle scaffolding upon receiving proper communication.
- Inspect and store scaffolding materials appropriately after disassembly.
- Be prepared to work while wearing personal protective equipment, including but not limited to rain gear, chemical protective clothing, respirators, safety harnesses, fire-resistant coveralls, hard hats, ear protection, and safety glasses.
- Maintain full mobility in both upper and lower body, capable of reaching overhead and working in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and climbing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: No minimum educational requirements.
Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a Journeyman Scaffold Builder is required.
Successful candidates must pass a drug screening and background check as a condition of employment.
