Compensation and Benefits
We offer an attractive compensation package for this Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Chowchilla, CA:
- $115 per hour (equivalent to $4,600 per week)
This rate applies to a 40-hour workweek, Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:00pm, with one week of training required from Monday to Friday. As an independent contractor, you will have the flexibility to manage your schedule effectively.
Job Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities as a Clinical Mental Health Professional will include:
- Consulting on complex cases with supervisors, treatment team members, and CDCR institutional health care personnel, and other divisions within the department;
- Documenting all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTTs) meetings;
- Monitoring inmate progress using CDCR Mental Health-approved documentation formatting for progress notes;
- Effectively applying community standards of practice for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards;
- Performing mental status exams (MSE) in face-to-face clinical interviews;
- Examining prior mental health records, institutional charts, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in the formulation of patients' diagnoses and aid in the development of treatment plans;
- Conducting mental health education and developing additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender patient-inmates/youths;
- Assisting patient-inmates/youths in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services;
- Facilitating patient-inmates/youths' transitions between various settings within the institution;
- Performing pre-release functions for releasing patient-inmates/youths, to include patient education, while facilitating transition to county mental health and community mental health treatment programs;
- Performing medical social functions as needed, particularly in CTC settings;
- Participating in IDTT meetings;
- Compiling and analyzing data from audits pertaining to the mental health program requirements;
- Providing information (i.e., appointment documentation, no-shows, etc.) to support staff for data entry;
- Providing written reports and consulting with the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff;
- Providing relatives/caregivers with information concerning patients in person, by phone, or by correspondence as approved by the supervisor and only after receiving the patient-inmate/wards' signed release of information for that specific individual;
- Developing a therapeutic relationship with patient-inmates, families, and caretakers, as assigned by the supervisor, in order to enhance effective treatment delivery;
- Representing the Department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters related to clinical social work;
- Protecting and maintaining safety and security of property, including documentation of unusual occurrences and inventory control of psychological testing material, reference material, computers, and other equipment;
- Maintaining order and supervising the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility in order to prevent escapes or injury by these persons to themselves or others;
