Police Officer

The City of Sequim is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining peace, safety, and order in our community, protecting life and property, and enforcing federal, state, and local laws.

• Patrol city limits in a marked police vehicle, on foot, or on bicycle to monitor activity and respond to calls for service.
• Direct traffic in congested and emergency areas, report safety hazards, and issue citations and infractions as necessary.
• Investigate crimes, traffic collisions, and accidents, collect evidence, and interview witnesses and suspects.
• Provide first aid and emergency medical care as needed.
• Conduct light preventative maintenance on departmental equipment.
• Participate in community policing initiatives and engage with citizens to build trust and improve public safety.

• Be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a valid Washington State driver's license and be insurable.
• Pass a background check and meet the City's hiring standards.
• Complete the Washington State Basic Police Academy and obtain certification.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Be physically fit and able to perform the duties of the job, including responding to emergency situations and engaging in physical altercations.
