Job Summary

St. John's Riverside Hospital is a leading healthcare provider in the Westchester community, dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care utilizing the latest medical technology. We are seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team in the Microbiology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report test results in a timely manner and communicate panic values to physicians and nursing units.
  • Communicate technical problems to the Department Supervisor and follow up on outstanding specimens.
  • Perform and record Quality Control results, as well as required maintenance on laboratory instruments.
  • Operate within documented competency and perform Proficiency testing with satisfactory results.
  • Handle patient complaints and report any issues to the Department Supervisor.
  • Process Emergency Room specimens and send out specimens to reference laboratories.
  • Utilize laboratory computer systems to run work lists and broadcast results.
  • Interpret results for patients of all ages, including neonates, infants, children, adults, and geriatric patients.
Requirements
  • Current licensure/registration in New York State.
  • BS in Medical Technology or related science, or qualified under NYS Department of Health as a Medical Technologist.
  • Microbiology experience required.
