Shawmut Design and Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Los Angeles. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in supporting our construction projects in the greater Los Angeles market.
Key Responsibilities- Work in partnership with the project manager to plan the job prior to project initiation, including general conditions study, procurement schedule, logistics, and more.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of project strategy and deploy this throughout the estimating process.
- Establish the pre-construction budget and manage the associated funds.
- Ensure that the best bids are obtained for each trade, based on the needs of the project.
- Structure a fair and comprehensive final sub bid process by incorporating all information from previous budgets, educating all subs on the Shawmut view of the project, and more.
- Present information and proposals effectively to clients based on their needs and preferences.
- 7+ years of experience in construction estimating.
- Experience estimating in one or more of our sectors: Education, Commercial, Corporate Interiors, Life Sciences, Hospitality, Retail, and Sports Venues.
- Vast knowledge of all trades, including scope, time-frames/field execution, typical missed scope/exposures, and an understanding of MEP systems and components.
- Knowledge of contract types and deal structures.
- Solid conceptual estimating experience.
- Must reside in greater LA or Orange County and be flexible with required business travel.
- Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000.
