Leidos National Security Sector is on the lookout for an Information Security Specialist to enhance a large-scale enterprise IT initiative for an Intelligence Community client.

This role presents an exciting chance to be part of a mission-critical team in a dynamic environment that requires a proactive candidate ready to engage from day one.

Our client is involved in the design, development, testing, integration, and deployment of solutions for essential needs.

The current system is approaching its end-of-life phase, necessitating the development and integration of innovative solutions to effectively meet user requirements.

The objective is to design and deliver an enterprise-level system with a modular, segmented architecture capable of supporting both large-scale and small-scale solutions to address a wide array of applicable use cases.

To meet these technical requirements, the client needs Information Technology (IT) activities to achieve the goals of designing, developing, testing, integrating, and deploying the solutions.

Key Responsibilities:


Act as a vital contributor in the final design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of the security system architecture and its performance.


Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in Cybersecurity for the Engineering team as they design, develop, and deploy new networks.


Evaluate and recommend security architecture, tools, and processes, including the establishment of security tools and capabilities for the new networks.

Provide technical insights to enhance cyber defense capabilities.

Review the latest alerts to determine their relevance and urgency.

Collaborate with the project team to establish a robust cyber-defense capability.

Analyze ongoing vulnerability scans and provide recommendations to the Network Engineering team for future enhancements.


Conduct vulnerability scans, generate and review vulnerability assessment reports, and analyze cyber defense challenges to assist in establishing the infrastructure and its operational tools.

Examine relevant event data for potential security breaches or indicators, and offer insights into current security threats and countermeasures.

Produce security incident reports, assist in coordinating actions during security incidents, and work with the network team to ensure all security systems are operational and up-to-date, including patch management.


Engage with technical team members to understand the existing system, subsystems, and component specifications, using your expertise to recommend changes that facilitate efficient and effective development.


Required Security Clearance:
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
Master's degree and 15+ years of relevant experience. Additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Proven experience in providing security architecture and engineering recommendations.

Demonstrated experience in monitoring networks and making recommendations for future improvements.

Experience with Windows operating system security.

Experience in Linux operating system security.

Familiarity with both CISCO and Juniper network devices.

Experience in analyzing network security issues.

Experience using network defense monitoring tools and systems.

Experience with security technologies.

Experience in establishing network security best practices.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:
Experience as a Crypto Custodian.

Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification.

Government Security Engineer Certification (GSEC) certification.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $144,000 - $260,850.00


The Leidos pay range for this job level serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation or salary.

Factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreements (if any), or other legal considerations.
