Job Summary

Estes Park Health is seeking a highly skilled Customer Service Representative to manage patient billing inquiries and provide exceptional customer service to patients. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of healthcare billing and insurance plans, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage patient billing inquiries via phone, email, or walk-in
  • Assist patients in answering their billing-related questions and provide explanations of payment options
  • Have knowledge of insurance plans, including commercial plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and other programs, to explain benefits and provide information to patients
  • Have knowledge of financial assistance programs, such as Medicaid, CICP, or the EPH Financial Assistance program, to guide patients to a Financial Counselor for further assistance
  • Work directly with the Lead Customer Service Representative to manage all outstanding self-pay balances
  • Take patient payments via various payment options, including prompt payment discounts, payment plans, bank loans, or online accounts
  • Assist the Patient Advocate in resolving patient concerns related to financial issues
  • Refer patients to Financial Counseling for walk-in visits or appointments as necessary
  • Work closely with Financial Counseling and Pre-Access services regarding patient self-pay balances
  • Courteously answer telephone calls and promptly return voice mail messages, route calls, and take accurate messages as needed
  • Manage correspondence from patients online
  • Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness by making recommendations and communicating trends and issues to the supervisor
  • Perform in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulatory agency standards
  • Perform in accordance with organizational vision, mission, and goals
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team environment
