ICMS is currently in search of a skilled and versatile HVAC Maintenance Specialist to join our team in support of a federal client. This role requires 100% onsite presence at a Federal Government facility and is governed by the Service Contract Labor Standards Act.
The HVAC Maintenance Specialist will be tasked with conducting routine maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, as well as the installation of new units or replacement parts in accordance with specifications and established safety protocols. This position involves close collaboration with the Operations & Maintenance management team to evaluate issues, plan and schedule maintenance, and perform root cause analysis of problems. Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing heavy commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems.
- Testing electrical currents or components for continuity using appropriate electrical testing equipment.
- Inspecting pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks using pressure gauges or soap-and-water solutions.
- Connecting pipes or tubing to equipment and to fuel, water, or refrigerant sources to create complete circuits.
- Reassembling and testing equipment post-repair.
- Repairing or replacing defective equipment, components, or wiring.
- Installing, connecting, and adjusting thermostats, humidistats, and timers using hand tools.
- Adhering to all relevant standards, policies, and procedures, including safety protocols and maintaining a tidy work environment.
- Providing timely and quality repairs for commercial-grade ice makers, walk-in coolers/freezers, and reach-in coolers/freezers.
- Conducting Preventive Maintenance on all HVAC-related equipment.
- Logging all refrigerant usage in accordance with Federal, State, and local EPA regulations.
- Performing other related duties as required.
Essential Functions
- Following both verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work onsite during standard working hours and respond to occasional call-ins for special circumstances.
- Reading and comprehending blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturers' equipment recommendations.
- Safely operating hand tools, power tools, and conducting roof inspections as needed.
- Utilizing computer skills for record-keeping in a computerized maintenance management system.
- Attending scheduled training sessions as required.
- Maintaining all necessary certifications in accordance with State regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
- Understanding of acceptable maintenance procedures and OSHA regulations (OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is highly desired).
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Licensed HVAC Mechanic.
- Active State HVAC licenses/certifications.
- A valid state driver's license with no major infractions.
- Experience in HVAC systems, air handling, deionizer water, chilled water condensers, hot water systems, compressed air, electronic gate systems, and boilers.
- EPA 608 Certification for Types I, II, and III is required.
- Experience in managing personnel, scheduling, operations, practices, techniques, and overseeing daily performance of contract work.
- Reliable transportation to work.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs.
- Capable of passing a federal security background investigation and participating in E-Verify.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with boilers is a plus.
- Prior experience working in a government facility.
- Familiarity with TRANE Chillers.
- Experience with TRANE Automation Systems.
Additional Qualifying Factors:
As a condition of employment, candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and must have acceptable reference and background check results.
Security Clearance Requirements:
All Contractor personnel working onsite at federal facilities must meet federal government security clearance standards. The Contractor will submit security clearance information for each employee as required by current government identification card application procedures and future requirements as applicable. All employees must be authorized as acceptable under the contracting officer's guidelines for the prime contract under which they are working.
Shift: Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $28.65/hour
