Internal Medicine Hospitalist PositionLocation: 30 minutes from a major city
The hospitalist is responsible for delivering medical care within the boundaries of their licensing, training, and credentials. A standard workday encompasses initial patient evaluations, routine rounds, discharge planning, and collaboration with specialists and local healthcare providers. The physician will oversee and guide Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants on the team. We provide a competitive compensation package, comprehensive medical benefits, paid time off, and a continuing medical education allowance. We seek candidates who thrive in a collaborative environment and possess strong communication abilities. Preference will be given to physician applicants who are board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice, although residents are also welcome to apply.
Position Highlights- Employment Type: Full-time
- Certification Required: ACLS
- Preferred Qualifications: Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Practice considered
- Documentation System: Meditech for all clinical documentation and orders
- Call Coverage: Physicians share on-call responsibilities, typically covering 4-5 day shifts with occasional night call support
- Support Staff: A Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is available during daytime hours to assist with histories and physicals, discharges, daily rounds, and respond to nursing inquiries
- Patient Volume: Typically manage 20-25 acute patients daily across Critical Care, Surgical, and Medical Units
- Compensation: $200,000 for approximately 72 hours per pay period or 12 shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM monthly, including night call
- Physicians generally take calls from home unless a Critical Care Unit patient requires admission, necessitating an in-person assessment before midnight
- We aim to recruit two physicians to ensure adequate coverage for 12-hour shifts
