Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Laundry Services Coordinator to join our team at Common Spirit. As a Laundry Services Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our facilities by providing laundry services to patients, visitors, and employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pick up soiled linen at designated areas and sort it according to fabric, color, and degree of soil.
  • Load and unload washing machines, observing the washing cycle to ensure proper water levels and temperature.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to the department manager.
  • Load dryers with damp wash, adjust controls, and start the machine, unloading linens into baskets for sorting and folding.
  • Feed clean, flat work pieces through a mangle with the assistance of a co-worker, separating torn linen for mending.
  • Fold dried articles, such as bath blankets, towels, and gowns, by hand and in a prescribed manner, stacking them for sorting and distribution.
  • Place folded linens in appropriate storage shelves and deliver all linen needing repair to the sewing area.
  • Assemble linen requirements for departments according to established daily supply standards, weighing outgoing carts and recording totals.
  • Deliver linen supplies to designated areas and receive telephone requests for extra linen supplies, recording items to be delivered and quantities.
  • Inspect linen articles for tears, holes, and general condition of fabric, determining if articles should be mended or discarded.
  • Sew, mend, and hem all linen used in the healthcare facility, using appropriate means available.
  • Assist in sanitizing the work area by cleaning floors and equipment, cleaning lint traps daily.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently according to established guidelines.
  • Report any damaged or unsafe equipment.
Requirements
  • General computer knowledge to complete required online training and access email.
  • General knowledge of housekeeping duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
