Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified RN with Med Surg experience to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a travel nurse with Magnet Medical, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of healthcare professionals and gain valuable experience in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment and Care:
    • Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments to identify patient needs and develop effective care plans.
    • Carefully collect and analyze patient data, including medical history, vital signs, and relevant symptoms, to inform diagnosis and treatment decisions.
    • Collaborate with healthcare providers to administer medications, vaccines, and injections as ordered, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
  • Patient Education and Counseling:
    • Educate patients on their medical conditions, prescribed treatments, and preventive care strategies to empower them to manage their health effectively.
    • Provide clear instructions for home care, including wound care, medication management, and follow-up procedures, to ensure seamless transitions between appointments or procedures.
    • Offer emotional support and counseling to patients, particularly those with chronic conditions, to help them navigate their health journey.
  • Treatment Administration and Procedures:
    • Administer prescribed treatments, including IV infusions, blood draws, and wound care, with precision and compassion to ensure patient comfort and safety.
    • Assist with routine diagnostic tests, such as EKGs, laboratory specimen collection, and basic imaging procedures, to facilitate accurate diagnoses and effective treatment planning.
    • Prepare and maintain medical equipment and instruments to ensure they are sanitized and ready for use, promoting a safe and efficient clinical environment.
  • Coordination of Care:
    • Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement individualized care plans, ensuring seamless communication and coordinated care.
    • Schedule follow-up appointments, diagnostic tests, and specialty consultations as needed, prioritizing patient needs and preferences.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure cohesive care and smooth transitions between appointments or procedures.
    • Monitor patient progress, providing ongoing support to ensure treatment plans are being followed and adjustments are made as needed.
  • Health Promotion and Preventive Care:
    • Advocate for patient wellness by promoting preventive services, such as annual check-ups, cancer screenings, immunizations, and wellness exams, to encourage healthy habits and disease prevention.
    • Identify risk factors for common conditions and provide educational materials and resources to support informed lifestyle choices and self-management strategies.
    • Assist in managing chronic disease care, including diabetes, hypertension, and asthma, by monitoring patient symptoms and supporting evidence-based self-management techniques.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record system, documenting patient history, assessments, treatments, and outcomes.
    • Ensure all patient interactions, diagnoses, and treatments are properly documented in accordance with clinic protocols and regulatory standards.
    • Complete necessary paperwork, such as consent forms, insurance verifications, and referrals, in a timely manner to facilitate efficient and compliant patient care.
  • Infection Control and Safety:
    • Adhere to infection control practices, including proper hand hygiene, sterilization of medical equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
    • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, including proper disposal of medical waste and monitoring for potential patient safety hazards.
  • Administrative and Support Functions:
    • Support clinic operations by managing patient flow, maintaining supplies, and handling administrative tasks as required.
    • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications, ordering and restocking as needed to ensure seamless clinic operations.
  • Quality Improvement and Professional Development:
    • Participate in clinic quality improvement initiatives, ensuring that care processes are continuously evaluated and improved.
    • Stay current with the latest medical guidelines, nursing practices, and clinic protocols through ongoing professional development, training, and certification.
    • Engage in patient satisfaction initiatives, focusing on delivering exceptional care and service to meet patient expectations.
