Job Overview

Position Summary:
Catalano Construction, Inc., a reputable Site Excavation & Utility Contractor, is in search of dedicated and skilled individuals for the role of Superintendent. This position involves overseeing projects throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and supervise multiple site work teams on various assignments to ensure timely project completion.
  • Collaborate with project General Contractors and Owners to maintain clear communication regarding scheduled and ongoing work.
  • Conduct inspections and manage utility installation and testing for drainage, water, and sewer systems.
  • Document, maintain, and organize Daily Field Reports.
  • Oversee material orders and deliveries to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Actively engage in on-site project meetings as required by General Contractors and/or Owners.
  • Manage and coordinate Union employees across various trades including Laborers, Equipment Operators, Teamsters, Carpenters, Cement Finishers, and Bricklayers.
  • Ensure crews adhere to safety protocols and the company safety plan, complying with all OSHA regulations, and implement necessary corrections to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform field measurements to monitor crew productivity while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Coordinate with company Project Managers regarding submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Order Requests, and Changes in Conditions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sitework or civil construction.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet frequently changing deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting Contract Drawings and Specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with computers, tablets, and email communications.
  • OSHA 30 certification (minimum); 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance for Government Projects.
