- Support the Nursing Services Director in overseeing daily nursing operations in alignment with established regulations and standards for long-term care facilities.
- Contribute to the creation, upkeep, and revision of written protocols and guidelines that dictate the daily operations of the nursing department.
- Ensure that all reference materials (e.g., PDRs, Federal and State Regulations) available at nursing stations are up-to-date. Suggest relevant materials to aid the nursing department in fulfilling residents' daily needs.
- Maintain the Nursing Service Procedures Manual to ensure it accurately reflects the nursing practices executed within the facility.
- Guarantee compliance among nursing staff with the procedures outlined in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
- Prepare written and verbal reports and recommendations for the Director regarding the nursing department's operations as needed.
- Regularly assess departmental policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions, making revision suggestions to the Director.
- Assist in devising strategies to synchronize nursing services with other resident services, ensuring a cohesive approach to residents' comprehensive care.
- Verify that all nursing personnel adhere to their designated job descriptions.
- Engage in the development, maintenance, and execution of the facility's quality assurance initiatives for the nursing department.
- Participate in facility inspections conducted by authorized government entities as requested by the Administrator or Nursing Services Director.
- Review and update residents' discharge plans periodically, contributing to the planning of nursing services related to discharge as necessary.
- Facilitate meetings with nursing staff and support personnel to strategize departmental services, programs, and activities.
- Manage the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for residents as required.
- Complete necessary incident reports as required.
- Clarify departmental policies and procedures to staff, residents, visitors, and government representatives as needed.
- Perform administrative tasks such as completing medical documentation, reports, evaluations, and charting as necessary.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Current RN license in New Jersey.
