Job Description

As a skilled Assembly Technician, you will play a crucial role in the production process, ensuring the highest quality products are delivered to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify conformance of parts to stock lists and blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Align components for assembly, manually or with hoist, and bolt, screw, dowel, or weld using hand tools and power tools.
  • Remove high spots and smooth surfaces using chisels, scrapers, files, and powered hand grinders.
  • Assemble, set up, and operate machines to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer specifications.
  • Form, bend, and fasten piping, fixtures, and attachments required to service machines with air, water, and oil.
  • Work as a member of a team in the fabrication process.
  • Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts using measuring instruments such as dial indicators and thickness gauges.
  • Install moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and work them to test free movement and operation of the assembly by hand.
  • Align and mesh gears in gearboxes to assemble systems of gears.
  • Mount and connect auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment, cut and fit pipe and tubing.
Requirements:
  • Solid mechanical skills and the ability to proficiently use cranes and other heavy tools and equipment.
  • Ability to use judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of operations and processes within the limitations of established or standard methods and procedures.
  • Must be able to interpret customer prints well enough to determine the appropriate disassembly sequence for a variety of heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of assembly prints and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of using a drill press to tap/drill holes per the layout.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use basic shop math.
  • Ability to verbally communicate with team members, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Possess the physical strength and ability to safely handle heavy equipment and tools.
Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of mechanical assembly and disassembly experience.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing environment with a 5% to 10% travel requirement.
