Job Summary

Vast is seeking a highly skilled Materials and Processes Engineer, Avionics to support the development of artificial-gravity space stations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in materials selection, manufacturing process development, and supplier development for avionics materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and qualify new materials and processes for avionics applications
  • Support the selection and procurement of avionics materials and components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective action to resolve manufacturing process issues
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in materials science, materials engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of professional experience in materials engineering or a related field
  • Demonstrable knowledge of materials science and engineering principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of IPC-J-STD-001 Class 3, NASA-STD-8739 series, or industry equivalent
  • Experience with printed circuit boards and electronic components
  • Understanding of surface mount technology and conformal coatings
