About the Role

Amwaste LLC is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in maintaining the engine and equipment on our waste collection trucks. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance and supervised repairs on our vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot vehicle and equipment operations problems
  • Diagnose issues with the aid of a supervisor or Mechanic 3 and subsequently make repairs with supervision
  • Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment according to standard schedules
  • Adjust, repair or replace parts and equipment under the supervision of a Mechanic 3 or Shop Supervisor
  • Attend safety meetings and classes
  • Maintain tools and equipment
  • Maintain a safe and tidy shop
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle and equipment operation and maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle and equipment diagnostics and repair principles
  • Skills in the use of basic hand tools and equipment used in the maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Skill in oral and written communication
Working Conditions

The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between color, and utilizes the sense of smell. Work is typically performed in a vehicle repair shop. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. Work may be performed outdoors occasionally in cold, hot, or inclement weather. Work requires the use of personal protective devices and equipment such as masks, goggles, and gloves.
