Position Overview

As a vital member of our team, the Construction Equipment Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of various mechanical and construction equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, trucks, trailers, batch plants, paving machines, bulldozers, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other machinery.


Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform cost-effective and durable repairs.
  • Dismantle equipment to access and replace defective components using hoists and hand tools.
  • Maintain and repair heavy machinery and non-mobile equipment across the organization.
  • Service vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, greasing, fluid additions, filter changes, and adherence to preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic systems, as well as diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, and drive trains.
  • Order necessary parts and supplies, maintaining accurate purchase orders and invoices.
  • Utilize computer systems for job functions.
  • Adjust and install functional parts and structural components in devices.
  • Conduct performance tests on machinery.
  • Weld broken parts and structural members as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • A valid CDL Class A or B license is required.

Skills and Abilities

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • The ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
  • Mathematical skills for basic calculations.
  • Common sense reasoning to follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Proficiency in typing and using keyboard systems, with knowledge of database software.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to:

  • Frequently sit, climb, and use hands to operate equipment.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach overhead.
  • Lift and move items weighing up to 50-75 lbs.
  • Meet specific vision requirements for close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Employees may encounter:

  • Wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.
