Position Purpose:
The T&D Superintendent is tasked with overseeing, coordinating, and executing all T&D-related functions in alignment with the company's strategic goals and commitments. This role also includes responsibilities as the Customer Service Bureau and Vehicle Fleet Manager for the business unit, reporting operationally to the Manager of Operations.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
T&D Responsibilities:
Directing the workforce to achieve daily operations, maintenance, and construction tasks, including the installation, upkeep, and enhancement of mains, hydrants, valves, and services.
Establishing procedures and ensuring compliance within construction and transmission departments across various companies in the NY Division.Conducting performance evaluations for team members as required.
Facilitating knowledge transfer among staff.
Efficiently managing company assets.
Implementing company policies for infrastructure management that balances capital and operational expenditures.
Overseeing capital and operational expense budgets.
Coordinating emergency response for repairs on a 24-hour basis and scheduling personnel for availability.
Collaborating with other departments to schedule installations, extensions, and maintenance activities.
Interfacing with customers, external contractors, and government agencies.
Maintaining daily field reports, crew attendance, sick leave monitoring, overtime tracking, accounts payable and receivable, and vacation scheduling.
Providing training and support to direct reports.
Encouraging resource sharing across teams.
Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Adhering to the operating budget and regulatory compliance.
Offering leadership and motivation to subordinates.
Facilitating communication among personnel and departments.
Collaborating with Engineering to ensure effective implementation of capital projects.
Continuously enhancing systems, processes, and procedures as measured by KPIs.
Developing and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Ensuring departmental adherence to safety and regulatory policies.
Utilizing resources efficiently.
Reviewing and analyzing all invoices received from vendors.
Auditing work performed by staff to ensure quality standards are met.
Creating and updating the new hire training process.
Safety:
Ensuring compliance with all safety policies.
Engaging staff to understand and follow all safety protocols.
Conducting training modules on various safety topics.
Developing new safety SOPs to remain current within the utility field.
Maintaining SOP training for staff annually or as needed.
Managing conditions to ensure the safest working environment for staff.
Investigating and documenting any injuries to ensure compliance with safety policies.
Assisting the Supervisor and Safety Manager in conducting regular safety and training programs, ensuring that all personnel utilize appropriate safety gear and protection devices.
Providing leadership and motivation regarding safety practices.Facilitating communication among personnel and departments.
Central Service Bureau:
Creating and maintaining SOPs.
Monitoring staffing levels.
Keeping technology updated while adhering to budget constraints.
Training staff on new policies.
Managing emergency situations.
Conducting performance reviews for reports as required.
Ensuring effective knowledge transfer.
Adhering to the operating budget and regulatory compliance.
Lead to Emergency Supervisors:
Managing the team to ensure compliance and safety.
Holding weekly meetings to review performance and ensure best practices.
Creating and maintaining schedules for emergency rotations.
Participating in emergency rotations.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
